Teachers are in high demand right now, and they will be next Fall. My school is losing 70% of it’s staff before next school year.
We are building new schools in our district and principals are taking teachers from within. This makes great for those who are looking to get into teaching. You can be choosy, because finding qualified teachers is hard right now.
If you’re looking for a teaching position, please take your time and do your research. Some districts are offering big incentives for you to work for them. You shouldn’t take a salary less than $50,000(even with no experience). It should come with bonuses(stipends for coming there and Christmas).
If you are single and have the option, be open to moving. There are places in Texas that still offer a low cost of living with the salary and stipends I mentioned above.
Please do not take your first offer. Look at the school, do they offer good pay and benefits. Does the student body look like students you can work with. Is the location good for what you’re looking for when you’re not at work.
If I was starting all over again, I would research the schools I was applying to, and I would research districts in other locations. I would then go on LinkedIn and reach out to teachers who already work there and ask them what it is like.
Then I would ask myself, is this an area where I can see other areas and cities of Texas that I would like to. Or is it close to a major airport(if you’re the traveling type).
I hope this helps!
Which district do you work for that is loosing 70% of teachers?

Not my district, but my school.
