I Scored A 239 On Tech Apps Exam(242), What Can I Do?

So I have had three different people reach out to me this week, and all them have scored a 239 with their last attempt. I am writing this post as a resource for others who have received the same score.

First, you’re not the only person receiving a 239, so take hope. I was here myself, but it was with a 238 on my second or third attempt. I was like, “you can’t just round it up?”. But it seems there are a decent amount of other test takers in the same boat.

Secondly, there is a way that will greatly increase your chances of eventually passing, it just may cost you some time and money. For me personally I had to pass the Tech Apps exam to keep my job(shady). So I knew that I had to pass this exam no matter what.

The best way to pass this exam is to take notes after each attempt, use my guide, and to keep taking it until you pass. By my second attempt I had wised up. I knew that I needed this certification hands down, and I was ready to take it five times if necessary. I may be burning 45 days and $120 with each attempt, but I would still be able to keep my $50,000+ paying career and do what I love. No pain, no gain.

Taking Notes After Each Attempt

Honestly, don’t think you’re finished right after you take the exam. I made this mistake and had to open an email each time with a number reading less than 240. So it’s not over after you take it, try to remember that.

Leave a notepad, pen, and highlighter in your car. Also print out TEA’s Prep Manual(http://www.tx.nesinc.com/content/docs/242PrepManual.pdf), pages 5-16 and my study guide. Put all these resources in your passenger seat of your car. After each attempt, no matter how much your head already hurts, take the time to write down everything you remember, highlight anything that stands out from the prep manual, and add questions to my study guide to give you more examples to practice. Try very hard to brain splurge everything. Cause 45 days later(if necessary), you will thank your prior self for doing all this extra stuff. Eventually after doing this multiple times, you will have all the necessary information jotted down to pass(hopefully).

This is the only way I can think of eventually passing. I used this strategy and eventually passed(I also think I said a really long prayer as well, lol).
